At Brilliant Vision, we’re proud to create high-quality acetate eyewear that blends craftsmanship with timeless style. However, many customers often wonder: “Why does it take so long to produce acetate glasses?”
Let’s break down the process—and help you understand why quality takes time.
1. Material Matters: Acetate Needs Time to Cure
Unlike injected plastic, acetate is a plant-based material derived from cotton and wood pulp. It’s layered, dyed, and pressed into sheets, which must be naturally cured for weeks or even months to achieve the right hardness and flexibility. Using fresh, uncured acetate may lead to warping or cracking—something we won’t risk with your frames.
2. Precision Cutting and Milling
Each frame begins with a precise CNC cut from acetate sheets. This is not a one-size-fits-all process. For custom orders, we also need to adjust the cutting programs, which adds extra time. After milling, the frames require manual trimming, drilling, and shaping to perfection.
3. Hand Polishing – A Labor of Love
One of the most time-consuming steps is polishing. Acetate frames undergo multiple stages of tumbling, buffing, and hand-polishing to achieve their signature shine and smooth texture. This cannot be rushed without sacrificing the premium feel and durability.
4. Assembly and Quality Control
We assemble the temples, hinges, and other components, which involves careful fitting and alignment. Then each pair is inspected piece by piece for finish, comfort, and overall quality. Any imperfection sends the frame back for rework.
5. Customized Colors or Logos? Add Extra Time
If your order includes custom acetate colors, logo printing, or metal core engraving, it may extend the timeline. These personalized touches require separate tooling, mock-ups, and approvals—but they’re worth the wait.
6. Seasonal Order Peaks
During global optical fairs or peak seasons (e.g., Q1 and Q4), production lines get very busy. We prioritize by order sequence, so early planning always helps ensure your delivery schedule.
In Short: Quality Over Speed
At Brilliant Vision, we don’t cut corners. We believe that good things take time—especially when it comes to eyewear that reflects your brand and your standards. We appreciate your patience and promise: your frames will be worth the wait.
